Ana Monaghan is a multi-talented artist and dedicated educator who has made a significant impact in several countries, including the United States, Australia, the Pacific Islands, and Japan. She began her independent career by producing educational and inspirational programs for children in the Caribbean Islands and South America.
Years later, due to health reasons, she relocated to Japan where she established her own language and art business. Ana’s passion for teaching led her to create curricula for large companies and become the head teacher for a Hitachi subsidiary, overseeing a team of 40 instructors. Her usual routine in every country has included volunteering time at foster care centers and orphanages, as well as providing meals and encouragement for those in need.
Ana garnered recognition for remarkable contributions. She was honored as the Volunteer Worker of the Year by “The Japan Times” in their ‘People’ section for the nation, a testament to her dedication and service.
In addition to her teaching endeavors, Ana interviewed diplomats for the cultural magazine, “From Embassies”. There she had the opportunity to engage with ambassadors having missions in Tokyo. Ambassadors are often top businesspeople who are in charge of monitoring and making deals concerning imports their own nation’s products. The embassies also host cultural events since everyone likes art and music. The magazine provided an opportunity to meet on common ground. It was an effort toward international unity and peace, with photos and coverage of international cultural get-togethers, for those in diplomatic circles. Many also received artwork to brighten their offices and homes. Ana was also given a trip to Israel and Palestine in exchange for a peace mural for a school under construction, entitled “War No More”.
Ana’s artistic prowess extends beyond traditional mediums. She painted a 5-panel Japanese screen in ground rock pigments and semi-precious stones on gold.
The artist was also commissioned by Norwegian Cruise Lines to create 16 stunning murals and paintings for the passenger ship, ‘The Pride of Hawaii’. Her artwork adorns various structures, showcasing her versatility and creativity.
The Grand Hyatt Tokyo commissioned Ana to decorate the executive offices and provide art as gifts for clients. With radio, television, and magazine interviews, her reputation as an artist has been well-established.
Currently residing in Hawaii, Ana continues to inspire others through her paintings and creation of inspirational materials.
